OBJECTIVE

To create and implement strategic Public Relations and/or Governmental Affairs plans for South Carolina companies, organizations, elected officials, and political candidates.

WORK HISTORY

Contract Public Relations and Governmental Affairs Consultant.  (June 2001-Present)

Duties: Implement all projects listed below as well as those on our "Scope of Services" page.

Experience Engineering; Experience Communicator (Director of Public Relations ). (January 1999-June 2001)

Duties: Develop comprehensive public relations plans for agency clients. Implement and maintain media relations strategies (media advisories, traditional and multimedia news releases, media communications). Institute community relations plans on local and national levels. Establish and foster working relationships with clients' executive and management level members. Execute internal communication policies for clients. Develop and coordinate internal and external events around client initiatives. Create research methodology to disseminate relevant business, industry, and governmental information to clients.

 

Bill Matney Associates; Territory Account Executive. (January 1998- December 1998)

Duties: Managed over 500 accounts for a firm representing twelve manufacturers. Maintained and re-established accounts throughout South Carolina and Western North Carolina. Created a comprehensive database system to track order activity of clients. Created collateral materials as sales aids.

 

The Palmetto Group Public Relations and Governmental Affairs; Chief Executive Consultant.  (December 1995-1997)

Duties:  Created strategic project plans.  Maintained client community relations.  Designed and produced presentation materials (audio and visual).  Coordinated media relations (media advisories, news releases, media communications).  Monitored governmental activity and devised appropriate courses of action.  Directed critical communications situations in areas of the media and society.  Compiled and maintained clients' databases.  Oversaw all accounts personally.  Worked closely with clients and their representatives.

 

Keymarket of South Carolina (WFBC-AM/FM, WSPA-AM/FM, WORD-AM); Promotions Associate.  (April 1995-September 1995)

Duties:  Handled relations with public sector (contests, charities, community events).  Coordinated remote live action broadcasts.  Wrote copy for Public Service Announcements.  Spoke as commercial voice talent.  Created and implemented community involvement events.  Served as substitute "on-air" broadcaster at remote locations.

 

Contract Political Management / Consulting / Staff.  (June 1988-Present)

Duties:  Coordinated media relations (media advisories, news releases, media communications).  Assisted in the creation of television and print advertisement campaigns.  Created project plans, budgets, and timetables.  Initiated and completed opposition and voter research.  Implemented bulk mailings.  Designed and arranged fundraising and events.  Managed staff and volunteers.  Served as a surrogate for public speaking engagements.
